C urtis Rose Testimonial:
When my wife and I retired and moved up here from TN, it was because Dianne wanted to have some time with her Dad before he passed, and to try to be a help to her Mom through a difficult time. Her Dad had cancer surgery in August of '07, and was told he probably only had a few months to live, so we sold our home in TN and bought a home here in Decatur in January of '08. Don's condition was getting worse and worse and it occurred to Dianne to call hospice. When she called Family Hospice & Palliative Care they set up a time to come out and began helping him immediately! We had no idea how much help they could and would be!
The first thing we noticed was how kind and gracious each and every person who came to the house was. These people were not like "employees"; they were so much nicer that it was striking. We began to joke that "All hospice employees must be at least 97% Angel." The degree of burden that my Mother-in-law was experiencing was really a big deal. Trying to get Dad out to the doctor's office was very difficult. The Family Hospice & Palliative Care doctors would make house calls! Worry about the growing pain went away when hospice simply "fixed the problem".
Dianne's Dad had been in a growing amount of pain; all food had a bad taste to him and he no longer enjoyed eating at all, and was losing weight rapidly. The Family Hospice doctors had such a great understanding of pain medication that they altered the meds he was taking and he began to have much more comfort. His appetite came back in such a great way, that he would decide what he wanted for his next meal as he was finishing the one he was eating then! He was still in the process of dying, but was so much more comfortable.
They brought a "lift chair", a hospital bed, a walker, oxygen in a tank and then also a machine that "made" oxygen out of air. They provided an emergency pack with so many different things in it; to be used as instructed over the phone if an emergency came up.
I have seen a lot of things in my life that were not nearly as good as I had been told they would be. This is the first time I have experienced any earthly thing that was better than I had ever dreamed. Family Hospice & Palliative Care, You are an amazingly wonderful organization. Our family will never forget your kindness to us at a difficult time.
Very Respectfully Yours,
Curtis and Dianne Rose
"It is very hard to go through the experience of losing a very much loved mother. The hospice team was like family. They supported us as well as my mother. They were there when we needed them as well as leaving us alone to be together as needed. Words cannot express our gratitude for the care we all received. Thanks is such a small word for the work you all do."

"Your team did an excellent job of comforting and caring for Mama. Like I said before I wish we had done it sooner, she was calmer at home. You all have our love and gratitude. Thank you.
